Touro Synagogue, Newport, RI

The oldest synagogue in America was built to serve the Sephardic Jewish community in Newport, led by Isaac Touro. The architect, Peter Harrison, was already known for his work at King’s Chapel in Boston and the Redwood library in Newport. The exterior uses the Palladian style. Completed in 1763, it is now a National Historic Site.
